Dear Members and Friends,
Welcome Spring! Our programs are lining up nicely for our season and we hope to see you! As your new President, I am hoping to carry on the traditions of the Greenport Historical Society and continue progress on our projects, one of which is the restoration of the Toll House. Many of you knew my father, David Hart, President of the Greenport Historical Society for over a decade up until his death in 2018, and his love of the Toll House. His shoes will never be completely filled by me, but it is my hope and my goal to be able to put in motion the steps needed to begin this restoration. I thank past President Guy Apicella for providing me with the information and tools to begin this process.
Our first meeting of the year is Thursday, April 18th, 6:00 p.m. at the Greenport Community Center. Our new Vice President, Juanita Bryant, will present a program on Dutch Cooking in the Hudson Valley, with a special treat: samples of recipes from her talk. In May, Brenda Shufelt, coordinator of the History Room at the Hudson Area Library will share some of the Resources available in the History Room. Please come and join us for some fun and informative evenings this Spring!
All the best,
Lynn
