October 15: Ghent, a Community’s 200-Year Evolution

Ghent, A Community’s 200-Year Evolution

In this beautifully illustrated talk, Ghent Town Historian Gregg Berninger will explore the question of what constituted Ghent’s settlements from its earliest days to now.  Why did people live where they did?  Why have some settlements vanished while others are still with us?

Gregg Berninger is the Town Historian of Ghent and a Professor of English at Columbia-Greene Community College.  He focuses on the history of everyday life and the communities within a town that form and reform over time.  He is the president of the Ghent Band and attended the Ghent School.

Came and enjoy Professor Berninger’s always lively and entertaining style while learning some Ghent History.

LOCATION: The Greenport Community Center, Town Hall Drive, Hudson NY. It’s the last building on the left, opposite Town Hall.
