May 16 Program: Tales of the Majestic Hudson

In May, Captain Stan with tales of the Hudson.
Our May 16, 2019 program at 7:00 PM at the Greenport Community Center features Captain Stan Wilcox, on Tales of the Majestic Hudson.

Captain Stan will bring us rare and little-known stories of the Hudson River Valley. We’ll hear about the amazing ice and brick industry, the fate of Henry Hudson, how Mount Merino was named, and many more–including why Rip Van Winkle was a happy man after his 20-year sleep!

Captain Stan hopes to get people to the river, feel a sense of ownership, and get involved in preserving this treasure in our own backyard.Captain Stan holds a Coast Guard Master License and serves as Senior Captain on the Spirit of the Hudson. He is co-author of Capt. Stan’s Hudson River Book and teaches “Hudson River Boating and Seamanship” each winter at Columbia-Greene Community College.

The Greenport Community Center is on Town Hall Drive, off Healy Blvd. It’s the last building on the left, opposite Greenport Town Hall.

This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available after the presentation. Come join us!
